Crazy Fashion Trends

Okay, I'm all about keeping up with the latest fashion trends ... that is, if my wallet allows it.  There is some craziness going on out there ladies.  Tell me what you think.  What one's do you like, what one's do you think are a waste of your hard-earned dollars.

Cardboard Shoes

I'm all about recycling, saving the planet and using fewer trees as possible.  However, cardboard shoes I'm not too terribly sure about.  Can't wear them in the rain cause you know, will kind of get all soggy and talk about wear and tear ... sorry, couldn't help myself.

Bust Bag

Talk about being BUSTED, well this is right up there ... I absolutely love bustiers but I don't think I'd want to carry one around in public.

 Tattoo

I always wondered if someone sat around in a room somewhere deciding what body part could be tattooed next.  Perhaps this is to help your partner find a certain body part in the dark.  Can you guess what would fit in the circle?  I swear, I'm not making this stuff up!

Hamburger Dress

Talk about taking a bite out of fashion!  But this isn't my idea of trendy.  Wouldn't buy it.  Wouldn't wear it.  Designer Joy Kampia O'Shell, came up with this colorful crocheted hamburger dress. Fashionable ... NO!  Cheesey ... YES!

      The blue/white mix and match pants below ... REALLY !!! Kind of makes me think the designer couldn't quite make up their mind.  This is definitely not a look that would be appealing for any body shape ... oh wait ... stick thin perhaps.

Now this is kind of cute and most definitely would make a statement.  Paula Abdul took product placement to a whole new level when she carried this kooky clutch down the red carpet. My only concern would be, what do you put in it OR, what will it hold?

What woman doesn't simply adore heels?  Spring is just around the corner ladies and it is a season that always leaves me gasping and pining for some of the most lust-worthy slingbacks and platforms imaginable.  Now that fashion week has come and gone, like me you're probably a little "faint of heart" the latest couture styles seen on the runways are way, way, way too extravagant.  I have to agree that as much as they are gorgeous, top designers can run any where from $500 ~ $1,000. 

We've done a little research and put together a few samples of what the top name designers have in store this upcoming season for those of you who may argue, however,"Money may not be able to buy you love, but it sure can buy you some sassy, sexy heels!"

Recycling Your Wardrobe

Not a bad idea considering even our First Lady is doing it according to the latest news reports.

 On last night’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Michelle re-wore her $148 pastel green "Pembridge-Dot" J.Crew pencil skirt – which we first saw when she visited 10 Downing Street in 2009 – paired with a shimmering gold short-sleeve sweater by Michael Kors and a jeweled statement belt. The ensemble came across as effortlessly sophisticated, and the cool palette was a great way of using color in winter.  Styles go in and out of fashion almost as fast as we change our underwear.

With prices soaring, job losses ever prevalent and the value of our currency teetering to and fro, why not be fashion savvy.  There are certain styles that will be forever ageless like the "Little Black Dress" and who's to say you can't look glamorous in something 2, 5 or 10 years old.  There are lots of ways to transform, alter, embellish and reconstruct older styles into a fashionable and trendy wardrobe. A little imagination and creativity can go a long way.

The days of shopping at local mom and pop retailers is almost a figment of days gone by.  Other than local boutiques, grocers and specialty services modern technology has infiltrated nearly every household in America.

Comparison shopping online has become more than an alternative means of searching out the best deal and discounted offers for big ticketed items, clothing, trips and more.  From Skechers to the mens worlds softest shawl-collar cadigan or Dillard's lounge wear dusters, the world wide web is becoming your oyster.

InternetRetailer.com reported that 54% of consumers this past holiday season had a quarter of their shopping done before Thanksgiving weekend online.  Talk about a heavy lot of consumer traffic putting major league smiles on retailers faces!  It certainly looks like this means of shopping isn't just a quirk but, a significant venue clearly here to stay.

Dress Up Ideas For New Years

One of the biggest nights of the year is right around the corner and with what we've all experienced this year either personally or watched via  the national news, a little celebrating is desperately needed.  But then, do we need an excuse for dressing up?  Nah!

There are times though we do get into a funk about what to wear.  So, if you're going out with your girl friends, attending a house party or going somewhere special with the man in your life, here are a few great fashion ideas.

Even though wearing something brand new feels good, there is a dress that is timeless, classic and we all generally have one in our closets ... the little black dress.  Switch it up with fab accessories like shiny gold/silver jewelry, classy pair of heels, chic clutch bag and a sassy hairstyle to finish the look.

Ahhh.  There is no other style that screams party than "Sparkles & Sequins" ladies.  You can dress up a pair of black jeans with a sequin top, add a little shimmer to a humdrum skirt with sequined hosiery, put a little snap into your step with a pair of shimmering platform pumps or simply go all out in a sequin dress.

Do you have a Black Tie event to go to?   "Black tie" doesn’t necessarily and always mean you have to wear a black dress. If you’ve got a fancy fete on your New Year’s Eve agenda, take a tip from Lea Michele and opt for a pretty pale dress. It’ll set you apart from the sea of black dresses, getting you noticed in a good way.
