Come Celebrate Alaska: Places to See in Juneau

"North to the Future" is Alaska's state motto and the next 50-years celebration is underway. January 2009 began festively, as Alaska marked its 50th anniversary of official statehood. As Alaska celebrates the next 50-years Juneau's Green Angel Gardens invites visitors to come see and experience their natural Alaskan gardens.

The coastal gardens are defended by a lush rain forest of Sitka Spruce (the state tree), Mountain and Western Hemlock, Red Alder and Black Cottonwood.

Green Angel Gardens with its inspiring wilderness setting was created to protect the natural land and native plants of our 49th state. During a stroll through the gardens, visitors view up close a diverse luxuriant rain forest botanical environment representing Southeast Alaska. Shore pine and Sitka Spruce crowd in on either side of the pathways. The gardens are definitely tranquil and infinitely distinct.

Visitors to Alaska are sweep away by the sheer beauty, the mountains, the rivers and forests. Planted solely with native plants, Green Angel Gardens is a capsule of this land with labeled native plants offering food, medicinal and traditional uses: cow parsnip, wild berries such as blueberry, elderberry, strawberry and raspberry along side tiny wildflowers like the state flower, forget-me-not, poke through the mossy ground under the forest canopy overhead.

Numbered markers allow visitors to cross reference plants with a descriptive pamphlet and placards placed along Green Angel Gardens pathways present information about the native plants. Many from "the lower 48" ask if there are still remote villages in Alaska today. The answer is "yes."

Alaska's entire population, of less than 700,000, is no more than that of Austin, Texas. There are more than 250 rural communities and most rely on a subsistence lifestyle, people who are both very skilled and challenged by their environment. Native plants contributing food, medicinal and traditional uses are especially important to this populations continued existence.

Besides Green Angel Gardens, Juneau has an interesting state capitol and Juneau is home to Mendenhall Glacier, an arm of the 1,500-square mile Juneau Icefield. Five percent of Alaska, or 29,000 square miles of the state is made up of breathtakingly beautiful glaciers and ice fields. Glacier silt, the soil here, is so fine in texture, it is known to locals as "glacier flour."

With interesting topography, majestic glaciers and breathtaking scenery found no where else, Alaska is one of the best locations in the country for outdoor recreation, wilderness adventure and down-to-earth sight-seeing.

"Alaska is the last place in the nation, maybe even the last place on the planet, that still looks like it did in the beginning" Dana Stabnow, Alaskan novelist.

The Shocking Truth About Celebrity Endorsed Diets

There is no doubt that we love our celebrities.

Just look at the number of tabloids at the checkout line of any market.

Consider the entertainment magazines available including People, Us Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, Star Magazine, and so many more.

Entertainment TV shows include E! Entertainment Television, Entertainment Tonight, and others.

Then you have shows all about the Kardashians and similar "celebrity" oriented programs.

We seem to love watching "stars" shine and stumble with shows like Dancing With The Stars.

The list seems never-ending.

And, if you still have doubts about how much we love - even idolize - celebrities, consider how much you're willing to shell out for tickets for live performances or even just to go a movie these days. To do what? Watch celebrities.

What Do You Have In Common With Celebrity Dieters?

What on Earth do you think you have in common with those celebrities?

How do they go about losing weight?

Are you really the same as the them when it comes to health and nutrition and dieting?

Are they good role models for your weight loss efforts?

Here are just a couple of differences between you dieting in real life and them dieting as "spokesdieters" for mega million dollar dieting programs.

I suppose the biggest difference between your real life and their celebrity life is that they have entourages and staffs and chefs and personal trainers at their beck and call to help and support them to stick to their diets and exercise programs.

You, on the other hand, have yourself. OK, maybe, if you're lucky, you may have one or two family members supporting you, and maybe a friend or two. But your supporters are not being paid by you, are not there for you 24/7, and let's face it, at the end of the day, they aren't truly invested in your success.

In reality, the celebrities are surrounded with support and encouragement and you are pretty much alone.

The second huge difference between you and your favorite spokesdieter is that the famous celebrity is getting paid handsomely not just to endorse the diet, but also to try to convince you it actually works - their "job" is to lose weight.

You, on the other hand - unless you are incredibly unusual - don't have a soul on Earth who's going to pay you millions to lose a few pounds.

The celebrities have a huge incentive to stick to the diet beyond good looks and good health. An incentive that you'll never have. A massive financial incentive.

We could go on with this list of differences between you and the celebrities endorsing diets, but I think you get the idea.

But one truth to take away is that they have a level of support and a huge financial incentive that you'll never have.

What You Can Do

There are 2 big things you can do - as a mere mortal not a celebrity - to help yourself in your weight loss efforts.

First, don't delude yourself. Of course you're exactly like the celebrity spokesdieters in the sense that you're human and so are they.

But just because they can make a diet work with all the paid support they get and all the pay they receive for doing it, doesn't mean it's actually any easier for them than it is for you. That's a good truth to keep in mind.

And, another important truth is that even with the paid support and the pay they receive, even they can't or don't always make it work.

Case in point: Kirstie Ally as the celebrity spokesdieter for Jenny Craig a few years back.

If you remember, Ms. Ally lost something like 80 pounds right before our very eyes on television.

And then, after quitting Jenny, every one of us saw her all over the tabloids, entertainment magazines, and entertainment television shows 80 or more pounds heavier within about a year.

The truth and the lesson is that celebrities are human, too. And, if you don't stick with your diet and healthy eating, of course it's not going to do you a bit of good any more than it will do them a bit of good if they don't stick with it.

Sticking to it. That's the key. That's the truth.

Which brings us to the second big thing you can do for yourself. Follow these 6 simple Guidelines to help you stick to your diet, weight loss, and healthy living plan.

6 Guidelines

1. The More Natural The Better.

When I say "more natural" it's about 2 things.

First, what you eat and drink.

Simply knowing that the more fruits and vegetables as opposed to packaged goods and salty snacks, the better. The more water as opposed to sodas, beer, wine, or anything else, the better. The more "healthy" oils/fats (olive, canola, salmon, avocado, nuts) and the less trans fats (shortening and margarine) and saturated fats (red meat and high fat dairy) the better.

It's pretty simple when you break it down and become just a little bit conscious and aware of what you're doing. You don't need to become a health food fanatic. Just a health minded eater.

The second thing I have in mind when I say "more natural" is YOU. You being more natural. You following your natural tendencies more.

We'll look more in detail about this as we go along, but for now, just keep in mind and that you are not Valerie Bertinelli, Carrie Fisher, Sara Rue, or Jason Alexander on Jenny Craig's payroll. You are not Jennifer Hudson or Charles Barkley being paid by Weight Watchers. You aren't Marie Osmond, Dan Marino, Janet Jackson, or Terry Bradshaw raking in a bundle to endorse Nutrisystem.

The truth is that you are you. The more you get tuned in to your personal strengths, weaknesses, preferences, likes, and priorities, and the more you diet in ways that are comfortable for your natural self, the better.

2. Listen.

Listen to you. It's not about listening to what others have to say, certainly not the celebrity spokesdieters with whom you have almost nothing in common except being human. It's not about listening to the advice of others who don't know or "get" the real, natural you. It's certainly not about listening to the criticism of others. And naturally it's not about listening to the marketing hype that surrounds the entire weight loss industry.

The point here is to listen to yourself.

Listen to you when you are feeling good about how you're managing your weight loss and health goals. Listen to your natural personality. The truth is that it will tell you how you should go about doing what you're doing to manage your weight and health and looks and lifestyle in ways that will help you accomplish your goals.

At the end of the day, you are your own weight loss guru and it is your responsibility to listen to yourself if you want to be effective. And, if you listen to yourself, any diet can and will work for you just fine.

3. Eating Is Complex.

We Americans have many, varied, and complex reasons to eat what we eat. And way too many choices.

Here are a few reasons that you may have to choose to eat a particular food:

Curiosity - you just want to know what that huge piece of Aunt Sue's homemade chocolate pie tastes like.

Emotions - we've all experienced emotional eating whether it's to sooth hurt feelings, work ourselves out of depression, or celebrate a nice promotion at work.

Pleasure - you just feel like treating yourself to something sweet and gooey - to spoil yourself - for the sheer pleasure of it.

Nutrition - this is where you make the choice to eat something more nutritious and healthy in order to lose some fat or maintain a healthy weight, improve your energy, enhance your long term health, look better, feel better, and live longer.

As you are getting ready to make a food or drink choice (and remember, it's always a choice) just take a split second to ask yourself if you're going to choose out of curiosity, to soothe some emotional turmoil or to reward yourself for some emotional victory, just for the pleasure of it, or are you going to choose something to promote your health and good looks?

By the way, these food choice motivations are not mutually exclusive.

As you do this on a conscious basis for a little while, and if you're serious about losing weight, you'll notice that you will automatically start making choices that are more oriented toward good nutrition. It just happens naturally. Your body wants to be healthy if you just get out of its way and let it.

This as a another example of being your own weight loss guru - first asking yourself what you're doing and then giving yourself the right answers. The truth is that you know the answers. Sometimes you just get distracted from them.

4. It's Your Life & Your Personality.

The truth is that there is no diet on Earth, no matter which celebrity is acting as it's spokesdieter, that is going to fit you perfectly.

Diets are designed in general. None is designed exactly for you. None is personalized precisely to match your unique personality, temperament, and behavioral preferences.

The problem most people have when trying to lose weight is an inability to stick with the diet long enough to achieve their goals.

Why don't people stick with their diets? Why don't you stick with yours?

Because you try to change yourself to fit the diet. That puts the diet, which was not designed specifically for you in the first place, in charge of you. And it gives you a ton of dieting related stress. Who wants that?

The solution is simple. Personalize the diet to fit you. Instead of changing your natural self to fit the diet, change the diet to fit your natural self. Personalize it.

That doesn't mean you should change the diet fundamentally. It encourages you to use the diet as guidelines rather than a set of laws that you have to follow perfectly or you'll be arrested and go to jail or something.

Here's another truth. No matter what you are doing in life, including dieting, the more you do it in ways that are consistent and compatible with your own unique personality and behavioral preferences, the easier those things are for you to accomplish, the more fun they are for you, and the more successful you will be at them. It's a law of nature. You do best at what you like best. You like best those things that are most natural for you.

5. Moderation.

Moderation is interesting.

Mark Twain said, "...it has always been my role never to smoke when asleep, and never to refrain from smoking when awake."

And for many of us it seems we have the same philosophy when it comes to food...we never eat when asleep and never refrain from eating when awake.

If you're overweight now, as 70% of Americans are so you're certainly not alone, one thing you're not used to is eating in moderation.

I suggest you go back for a moment and review our 3rd Guideline - Eating Is Complex.

If you become aware - consciously at first evolving into automatically - of what the purpose of your food choices are with an emphasis on nutrition whenever possible, you'll automatically develop the moderation habit without having to use a lot of will power. It will lead you, without a lot of conscious effort or stress, to your weight loss and fitness goals.

6. Reasonableness - Common Sense.

Going hand-in-hand with the idea of moderation, is your desire and ability to face the reality that you are not going to be a super model and are not likely to ever become a highly paid celebrity spokesdieter for any diet program.

That does not mean that you cannot easily be as slim, trim, fit, healthy, and active as you want to be.

You can be. You have a right to be. And you deserve to be as healthy and as happy as you want at any healthy weight without ever appearing on national television, without ever adorning a magazine cover, without enviable, photogenic six pack abs, without bulging biceps, and without ever fitting into your skinniest ever jeans.

Don't get me wrong.

I am an advocate of lofty goals.

I am also an advocate of realistic goals.

I am an even bigger advocate of using common sense in all things, especially in how you manage your weight which is directly related to how you manage your health which is directly related to how you look and feel.

The Bottom Line

So yes, we Americans love our celebrities. But let's not give them god-like status. They are just people. If they do not stick to their diets, they will get fat just like you and me.

The truth is that Valerie Bertinelli, Jennifer Hudson, Marie Osmond, and all of the others smile their celebrity smiles and in 60 second spots make it seems like it's easy. But they have to work at their diets like you and I do.

However, they have staffs that are paid handsomely to help and support them and they are being paid ridiculous sums to stick to their diets.

If you are serious about losing weight, you have to do the same thing as the celebrities. Stick to your diet. Unfortunately, you have to do it more on your own than they do and without making millions in the process.

Instead of having a cash payment from a big diet company as an incentive to stick with it, your main incentive is to look in your mirror and feel proud of yourself. It's to look your best, feel your best, and be your best as you accomplish your goals, achieve a healthy weight, and maintain that healthy weight and lifestyle forever. No cash. Just a sense of accomplishment.

Use the 6 Guidelines outlined above and you'll find that your weight loss success will be easier and more successful than you have ever experienced before.

Whether you like Valerie Bertinelly, Jennifer Hudson, Marie Osmond, or one of the celebrity spokesdieters, you are not them. You will not diet like them. You will not lose weight like them.

Luckily for you, you are you. You are unique. You have an individual personality, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, and behavioral preferences. The more you use those traits and characteristics to your advantage to personalize any diet you choose, the more successful you will be at weight loss and long term weight and lifestyle management.

The way you attack your diet plan, your weight loss efforts, and your long term weight management is up to you and you alone.

No matter what diet you choose and no matter what celebrity may currently be endorsing that diet, the truth is that that celebrity's job is to try to get you to buy their diet instead of a different one. Period. He or she is not going to jump out of the TV or off the magazine page to actually help you lose even a pound in your real life.

Whether or not you actually lose weight, personalize your diet, and stick with it is entirely up to you.

The better you get at being natural, listening to yourself, sorting through the complexity of food choice motives, using your own natural personality, relying on your own common sense, and having realistic goals, the more likely you are to get exactly what you want from your weight loss efforts.

With zero help from any celebrity spokesdieter.

The Celebrity Fit Club Diet

The Celebrity Fit Club Diet was coined by Dr. Ian K. Smith's book, Fat Smash Diet. This is one of those diets in which the main focus is on lifestyle change, which will inevitably bring upon weight loss. It is based upon the principles of eating healthy, and exercising on a regular basis.

What the Celebrity Fit Club Diet Consists Of

This diet consists of four phases. The first phase is the toughest and strictest, and is focused on ridding the body of its toxins. This lasts for nine days, and limits the types of foods that can be eaten. It is during this phase that the rate of weight loss is at its fastest. The next three phases gradually reintroduce foods that you were not allowed to eat in the first phase, one phase at a time. This teaches the dieter how to eat properly, and promotes a gradual change in lifestyle which makes it easier to implement. Although this diet does not require any calorie counting, controlling your portion sizes is essential.

What You Can and Cannot Eat on the Celebrity Fit Club Diet

During the 9 day "detox phase" - or phase one - carbohydrates are pretty much limited to fruits and unsweetened oatmeal. In addition, you are permitted to eat vegetables, egg whites, beans and nuts. During the second phase - or "foundation phase" - you are allowed to add lean animal proteins, such as chicken and fish, which lasts three weeks. The four week long "construction phase" - or phase three - you will be adding whole grains and cereals to your diet.

The fourth phase is a lifetime-long phase. It shouldn't really even be called a phase because it is during this period that you integrate a complete lifestyle change. This is called the "temple phase", which allows you eat all the foods you have been consuming throughout the first three phases. In addition, you can gradually introduce small portions of white breads and pastas, as well as the occasional alcoholic beverage.

Exercise

Keeping active and participating in an exercise program is essential during the Celebrity Fit Club Diet. You are recommended to work out about 5 times a week, and incorporate 30 minutes of cardio during these sessions. After the first three phases, you are encouraged to perform one hour of exercise, 5 times per week.

There is no magic to losing weight. Eating sensibly, restricting calories, and exercising regularly are the keys to weight loss success.

Cocaine Use by College Students and Celebrities

Cocaine Use Increases

An article entitled "Cocaine Epidemic Feared As Cocaine Deaths Nearly Double In Florida Over Past 5 Years" was featured on the "Medical News Today" website on October 21, 2006. Not surprisingly, the information contained in this article was quite disconcerting. For instance, one of the key points in the article was that cocaine use is on the rise among college students with disposable income and also among high-profile celebrities. Perhaps of more importance, however, are two facts that are associated with the escalation in cocaine use: the increased cocaine-related emergency room visits and the rising cocaine-related fatalities. In fact, according to Florida drug authorities, cocaine-related deaths in Florida have almost doubled from 2000 to 2005.

Why People Use Cocaine

Why do various individuals use cocaine? Cocaine gives a person a feeling of euphoria, energy, and at times, an unbelievable, almost superhuman sense of control and mastery. For instance, some people who have taken cocaine have been known to leap out of windows or off rooftops, thinking that they could fly or that they could jump dozens of feet without getting injured. There is, however, a physiological reason why people continue to use cocaine after their first encounter. Cocaine exhausts the "feel-good" neurotransmitter dopamine, thus causing a need for even more use. In short, and from a physiological perspective, cocaine use perpetuates more cocaine use.

Fatalities and Cocaine Use

To gain a better understanding of the ultimate danger inherent in cocaine use, namely death, one needs to focus on the timeframe regarding its life-threatening effects. To accomplish this, cocaine use will be compared with prescription drug abuse.

The abuse of prescription drugs such as Oxycontin, Vicodin, and Adderall can trigger abrupt cardiac or respiratory arrest at the time of abuse. Thus the critical and fatal timeframe when abusing prescription drugs is mostly "short-term." Conversely, due to the snowballing effects of cocaine, especially regarding the blood vessel damage that increases the risk of stroke or heart attack as a person ages, users can suddenly die years after their cocaine abuse started. Therefore, the critical and fatal timeframe for cocaine use, unlike the same measure for prescription drug abuse, is typically "long term."

Why the Rise in Cocaine Use?

Why is cocaine use increasing? One of the reasons is that celebrities who are addicted to cocaine have become "walking cocaine advertisements" and, as a result, have been able to adversely influence others, such as students, who have access to relatively large amounts of disposable income.

The Need For Intervention and Education

Florida drug experts stress that additional drug education and intervention need to take place in schools, colleges, and in local communities nationwide to help prevent a full-blown cocaine epidemic. I agree, but to be effective, I assert that the intervention and educational strategy has to include facts that challenge the lifestyles of the cocaine-using celebrities. Let me explain. Students need to be aware that they are observing a "snapshot in time" that does not reveal "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say. Stated differently, college students who are impressed by cocaine-using high rollers need to learn how to see through the VIPs' facade and realize that they are getting "sold" faulty goods by the cocaine-using rich and famous.

Many celebrities are at or approaching middle age. As a result, most, if not all, of the high-profile chronic cocaine have learned first-hand about the consequences of their drug-related lifestyles. On the other hand, most "traditional" college students are either teenagers or very young adults. Due to the cumulative effects of cocaine use, however, college students who continue to use cocaine are essentially playing Russian roulette with their near and long-term future.

The Rest of the Story

College students must be made aware of the fact that the cocaine-using celebrities that they are impressed with are really loose cannons that may explode into oblivion at any time because of their drug-related lifestyles. This "ultimate" and fatal consequence, however, does not tell the whole story. Indeed, the "rest of the story" also focuses on both the short-term and the long-term health consequences of cocaine use.

Short and Long-Term Effects of Cocaine Use

What the impressionable students have not seen are the friends of celebrities who have died from cocaine-related cardiac arrest, seizures, strokes, and respiratory failure. In addition, the vulnerable students have not been told about the "coke crash" that certainly has left some of the rich and famous depressed, irritable, and fatigued.

Not only this, but the easily influenced students have not been informed about the loss of smell, problems with swallowing, and the nosebleeds experienced by some of the rich and famous who got their cocaine "buzz" via snorting. Moreover, the "receptive" students have not been notified about the bizarre, unpredictable, and at times violent behavior of many high rollers who took increasingly larger doses of cocaine in order to experience the desired high.

Additionally, the suggestible students were not informed about the abdominal pain and nausea experienced by some of the cocaine-using celebrities. In a similar manner, the impressionable students were not told about the paranoid psychosis and auditory hallucinations experienced by various VIPs who experimented with binge cocaine use, i.e., taking more frequent AND higher doses of the drug at the same time.

Moreover, the vulnerable students were not told about the fever, convulsions, blurred vision, muscle spasms, and comas experienced by some of the cocaine-using VIPs or by some of their friends who "party" with them. Similarly, the impressionable students were not told about the major weight loss, malnourishment, and loss of appetite experienced by numerous celebrities who have been chronic cocaine users. And finally, the susceptible students were not informed about the severe chest pains, coughing, shortness of breath, and bleeding in the lungs experienced by some of the celebrities who got their cocaine "buzz" via smoking.

Conclusion

College students need to become knowledgeable of the immediate and the long-term health problems that virtually all chronic cocaine users, even celebrities, eventually experience. In addition, they need to become aware of their vulnerability to cocaine use due to the fact that, statistically speaking, the 18 to 25-year-old age group currently has the highest rate of cocaine use compared to other age groups. Until college students can "see" the contradictions and damaging effects inherent in the questionable lifestyles of cocaine-using VIPs, however, some of them will continue to follow the destructive paths of the high-profile cocaine-using celebrities.

Make Wise Choices at Food Celebrations

There are a lot of food-related events and activities slated for May-National Hamburger Month, and National Barbecue Month and more. In addition to the dedicated food event calendar, count Mother's Day, graduations, and bridal showers. There are plenty of occasions for good eating and fellowship, creating the circumstances for you to easily venture off the path to the healthy lifestyle. No worries, I have suggestions for you. You'll be able to enjoy, indulge, and stay on track with your healthy lifestyle goals.

Mother's Day 2014 is the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day and Moms most enjoy taking a break and spending time with her children/kids no matter how old they are. If brunch or a breakfast buffet is planned, here are a few tips for healthy choices.

-Before hitting the buffet, enjoy a glass of water. This will keep you hydrated, and help you avoid over indulging when you're face to face with the foods on display.

-Opt for assorted fresh fruits in place of fruit juice. Fresh fruits will help boost your fiber intake.

-Choose whole grain pancakes or waffles.

-Eggs as a protein food will stave off hunger longer than carbohydrates---avoid rich sauces, limit the amount of cheese, and add vegetables, or lean meats to omelets. And if you swap egg whites for whole eggs, that is even better.

-If ordering a side of meat, go lean---turkey bacon, chicken sausage or one instead of two sausage patties.

National Hamburger Month was created by one of the leading hamburger chains to celebrate one of the country's most popular foods. When burgers patties first hit the grill of consciousness, they were beef burgers. These days the well-dressed burger bar includes patties made from turkey, chicken, buffalo and seafood.

I typically suggest you choose lean meats, but you do need a little fat in a good beef burger. Choose beef that is 80 percent lean, typically labelled 80/20. Avoid adding salt, especially before cooking. Chicken and turkey burgers are also good options and if you mix in dark meat, your chicken or turkey burger will be more flavorful and moist.

-Make slider-size patties or if a larger size is your choice, start with a meat patty that is 4-ozs. about the size of the palm of your hand.

-Choose hearty whole grain buns and consider an open-face burger with served with one-half bun.

-Healthwise items to serve with your burgers include fresh salsa, roasted mushrooms or chopped cucumbers or pickles.

-Serve sliced carrots or zucchini with low-fat ranch or onion dip in place of potato chips.

National Barbecue Month is all about enjoying the seasonal weather and cooking on the grill. Everyone loves good 'cue and the secret to 'cue worth bragging about is to start with good meat.

-Grill chicken, turkey or fish steaks. For any of these make sure the grill is not too hot.

-You can flavor the meat by marinating it 45 minutes to an hour.

-Choose side dishes that are not high in calories---try potato salad or coleslaw with vinaigrette dressing in place of the traditional mayonnaise, sour cream or salad dressing.

-Add plenty of vegetables and fresh fruit. For dessert choose angel food cake with a topping of fresh blueberries, raspberries or strawberries.

-Keep food safety top of mind-keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. Use separate utensils for uncooked and cooked meats and discard the marinade after removing the meat.

These are a few of the food-related celebrations. With these tips you can enjoy good times and good food and the healthy lifestyle.

Take Away: By choosing the well-being lifestyle, you can still eat foods you like. Just remember to choose moderate amounts, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and exercise.

Celebrity Life Isn't What It Seems and Not Always A Party

It is a common assumption among the public that celebrities are born with a silver spoon, and they have lavish lifestyles, popularity, love, peace, joy, fun, riches, and high celebrity net worth. For ordinary people, the grass is always greener on the other side, but the truth is, however, completely opposite of what a common person sees. There are both advantages and disadvantages of being a celebrity and people are only able to see one side of a coin. The other side is full of thorns, and it is a fact.

Disadvantages

  1. The freedoms of celebrities are restricted. Imagine Beyonce, Justine Beiber or Robert Pattison going out for a stroll, supermarket or a park. What will happen? They never know in which corner their anxious, eager admirers, followers, and photographers are waiting to rush and swamp them. They can also be literally ambushed by their fans if they step out of their home or hotel without sufficient security. In order to avoid such scenarios, they will have to confine themselves inside their home or hotel, and live on their own. They cannot hope to lead a normal life as a common man and enjoy the pleasure of visiting a park, mall or super market, taking a walk, visiting neighbors, lying down on a beach, going out to a theater, neighborhood restaurant or a night club. They confine themselves in their own secluded world, amidst the closest ones.
  2. The celebrities always face the risk of molestation, stalking, groping, deceit, and harassment in their everyday life, because it is a matter of time when the fans may overstep the thin line, and commit these nuisances. The heightened passions among the admirers may even lead to dire consequences and physical harms. They also have to be on-guard every minute of the day from being duped by the unscrupulous people, agents, producers, and friends.
  3. Staying aloof in own secluded world leads to loneliness and emptiness. Celebrities feel hurt and depressed, and frequent feelings of nothingness. They describe their life as a void and abyss, without any charm or pleasure. Their emptiness is hunger for neighbors, genuine friends, natural living, and life as a common man where they can laugh, play, and enjoy like others. On occasions, the loneliness is so overwhelming they feel there is something missing in their life. The loneliness can also lead to craving for drugs, boozes, and other depressants that can be hazardous to their health, and overdose can even kill them.
  4. Celebrities are always under the scanner of their fans, magazines, newspapers, tabloids, blogs and electronic media. The false scandalous news, lies, defamation and slanders are common in the life of a celebrity. Such false propaganda can bring down their popularity among their fans and producers, and damage their reputation and profession.
  5. Celebrities lack privacy. Internet and tabloids are full of videos and photos displaying private and outdoor life of the celebrities. Their everyday life is always under the scanner of 'celebrity' or 'people' journalism, and their every action or activity is splashed over the tabloid pages. People also crave for news on the personal life of celebrities, and to satisfy the needs of the people and fans, many national tabloid newspaper, gossip magazines, and gossip columnists have sprung up for publishing hot news. These tabloids are always on a look out for the scandals and private lives of celebrities. The advent of cell phones with cameras, hidden cameras, and voice recorders have further jeopardized the privacy of the celebrities because the tabloid reporters use these electronic devices to prying into the personal and private life of famous people.

However, becoming a celebrity is always a dream for many, irrespective of minus points. The success of a celebrity and their celebrity status can truly be compared with the Rose bush because the rose bushes also have thorns, and a simple rose grows among thorns. In the same way,few shortcomings can not deter people from wishing to be a celebrity, and enjoying fan following, fame and fortune, lavish lifestyle and affluence.

Love Contracts: Lifestyle Clauses Increase the Applicability of Prenups

Family lawyers are well-versed in marital law, including writing a strong prenuptial agreement. In fact, prenuptial agreements have grown in popularity, no longer being reserved for celebrities and the wealthy. However, these agreements have been growing in scope, describing more than just what would happen in the case of a divorce. Lifestyle clauses that govern the responsibilities and requirements of both parties during the marriage are becoming a common part of the prenuptial agreement, colloquially referred to as a love contract.

Common Clauses

The American Bar Association Journal describes the increased popularity of lifestyle clauses in both prenuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements for couples that are not getting married. According to a celebrity divorce attorney that is well-versed in incorporation of lifestyle clauses, prohibitions on cheating or penalties for adultery that are enforced in the divorce settlement are the most popular clause. These lifestyle clauses may also cover frequency of sex, financial goals, and physical appearance.

Other popular clauses set up ground rules for the couple. There are guidelines regarding how much time they must spend with one another. These types of clauses usually require "date nights" or that the partners spend a minimum amount of time away from work, cell phones, and other forms of distraction to enhance their time together. It is also common to impose a requirement to remain under a certain weight, both for reasons of attraction and for health. However, these love contracts can encompass any number of topics, it is up to the parties to come to a mutual agreement.

Celebrity Examples

While love contracts, like prenups, are no longer limited to celebrities, the clauses contained in celebrity agreements often get the most attention. This may be because of the specificity or perceived outlandishness, or it may be because of the high price tag attached to some. Regardless, celebrities have some of the most unique and tailored requirements in their agreements.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman used their prenup to ensure that Urban stays clean. While Urban is entitled to $640,000 for every year they remain married, he will not receive any of that money if he uses illegal drugs. Urban, a former cocaine addict, has the added incentive to remain drug-free.

Priscilla Chan, wife of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, has included a clause requiring Zuckerberg to spend time with her. Acknowledging that her husband could be a workaholic, she has required one night and 100 minutes of quality time per week. The contract can spell out as much or as little detail about the lifestyle requirements as the couple needs or wants.

While cheating clauses and financial bonuses in the case of infidelity are also the most common for celebrities, the prenuptial agreements of celebrities also include provisions dividing things that may not actually be considered assets. An attorney that has represented a number of famous individuals has included clauses to decide who gets the babysitter, the pool boy, pets, and even a taxidermied horse.

Benefits and Drawbacks

Love contracts, like prenuptial agreements, provide a type of safety net. They establish ground rules for the relationship, helping the couple set down a vision for their life together in practical terms before they actually enter into the marriage. The love contract also has the benefit of requiring the couple to think through potential issues, tackling pet peeves, and identifying ways that their partner may be able to work around something that could be highly detrimental to the relationship. On the other hand, these types of agreements are likely considered to be unromantic and made for individuals expecting their marriage to fail.

One major drawback is that lifestyle clauses are not usually enforceable in court, depending on the nature of the clause. However, they may be used in the case of a divorce settlement to look into the couple's mutual understanding of the relationship and its goals. An attorney that is familiar with these types of agreements will also be able to write the enforceable clauses, such as financial penalties and other asset division clauses. For some couples, the prenuptial agreement is not enough of a safety net. Divorce insurance offered by a German-based insurance firm provides coverage where a prenuptial agreement is not enforced. Divorce insurance alone may be insufficient. There are plans to financially help preserve one's lifestyle, which can be purchased in lieu of or in addition to divorce insurance. These income protection plans would be particularly applicable for those that are making cohabitation agreements without marriage and would not be able to use a prenuptial agreement.

Obtaining a Love Contract

A love contract can be included as part of a normal prenuptial agreement, obtained through a family law or contract attorney. It is also possible to memorialize such an agreement as a separate contract, which is especially applicable for couples that do not have plans to get married, but want to create a cohabitation agreement. For couples that are not at all concerned about legal enforcement, it is possible to write an informal agreement, having the candid discussion and setting expectations for the relationship ahead of time.

Achieving Even Just a Little Momentum Means it is Time to Celebrate

When we start something we are filled with energy and enthusiasm because we are about to embark on a new adventure. It is an exciting time because we are filled with visions of what we want to accomplish. We can actually SEE ourselves in that new place. We cannot wait to get there because the vision is so great - our world opens up. This is a moment in time when we truly celebrate. We have made a decision to head in a really important direction. Woohoo!

A few people forge ahead and see continuing signs of success very quickly. For most others, it is not quite that simple. There is a learning curve just ahead that must be tackled in order to get to the extraordinary goal. This learning curve can be longer or more difficult than we imagined (or that we failed to even recall in our initial energized state).

Frustrations aside, we pursue with greater persistence. We have no choice! This is our life and our dream is so inspiring that it must be achieved. A few months go by and we are not quite reaching our initial goals. Okay, admittedly we had stars in our eyes when we originally manifested our idea and thought that it would be easy to reach our targets. And we are not quite there. We feel disappointed because we did not make it and it feels like a mini-failure.

This response is common; yet, it is a big mistake! The only thing we are failing to do is to recognize the momentum that we have created! The beginning of momentum is a sign that success is inevitable. We need to note and celebrate our progress because this is more important than meeting a strict and potentially arbitrary target that we set out in the beginning.

In addition, if we feel down and disappointed most of the time because we have not reached our targets these negative feelings rise to the surface. Even if they are hiding in your subconscious they find a way to permeate your outer layers and send off signals to the world. Sending off all the wrong messages makes it very difficult to get the results you are seeking out. Putting the focus back on momentum will side-step a lot of these negative emotions.

Momentum can be tracked in many ways. Take the time to properly analyze your progress and you will likely find numerous accomplishments. These can include shortcuts and ways to do things faster, healthier habits, increased connections, new systems, more revenue, new supportive relationships, personal development and even leadership skills. Just having the confidence that we can take inspiration, turn it into an idea and keep moving it forward propels us into a new place and opens up the space where we can believe that anything can be achieved as long as we persist and celebrate!

Has it been a while since you sat back and reflected on what you have achieved towards creating the career, lifestyle and world that is important to you?

What are you going to celebrate this week?

The Celebrity Gossip and Juice On The Internet Highway

The celebrity is a person whom we all are curious about. Yes, their lifestyles and photos are what we receive in the web pages. There are a lot of pictures showing what most celebrities do not want to be let out, their secret lives. The only problem with being an actor or actress is you pay the price for who you are. You are followed constantly by paparazzi, and you have no social life without a camera in your face. Imagine if you will that outside your front door is ten people with a camera just waiting to snap a photo of you getting into your car, or bending over for the special shots. It's a sick business, but we all are interested in our favorite celebrity.

We want to know what they wear and how glamorous a lifestyle these people get to live. We have web sites that depict this from photographs that are possibly invading the celebrity's private times. Do we care; I think we would if put into their position? These are their lifestyles though and most in the music business, football stars, Bollywood actors, and so on. These guys and gals are familiar with what is coming at them. I don't feel sorry for the actor or whomever is being sought after for photos and comments. This is why they get paid a very nice salary for, and they know it. Most just get sick and tired of the media into their private affairs and who would not?

I like to see sexy photos of all my favorite women actors and so do a lot of other men. The women also want to see their favorite men in articles and web sites. We are all curious as to what these people are doing with their lives. You can enjoy them right here, in a few clicks and your right at a site where you can get the low down on anyone. The internet is fantastic in this way. No waiting or paying, its right in your face showing you what you want to see and hear.

That is what upsets a few of the famous people and it is free publicity. No one wants to give away their photo, if a celebrity. You earned a good living providing entertainment and so you want to be paid for these shots when your not working. Well, they know better. I hope you enjoyed my article on celebrities, it's nothing unusual or new. It is what it is, fun and dirty.

Lifestyle Design - Celebrate Your Family - Part II

I have yet to meet anyone that wishes they spent more time in the office or on their career; instead everyone seems to miss time with their families and friends. Family is not limited in this discussion and context to those related only by blood. Many of us have our truest and best family by virtue of lasting friendships and not blood relation at all. I believe that family is whomever you choose it to be whether by birth and blood or by choice and opportunity.

It is vital to make a truly conscious effort to celebrate our family in fun and rewarding ways often. Here are some tried and true and even a few new ideas for celebrating with your chosen family.

Blockbuster Movie Family Pack
While you can blow it out and take everyone to the movies complete with popcorn, orange gooey nachos, and gargantuan sodas, you can also do this at home and still provide the popcorn, more moderately sized refreshments and skip the pseudo food.

My clients have found that even a large TV in a great room is enough to keep family together and entertained for an evening or a rainy afternoon. If you have the option of doing even a small home theatre, there is never a reason to indulge in the high price of movies at the mall. You can even include your own popcorn cart and a mini refrigerator for cold drinks.

Bring Hollywood home and celebrate movies with your family.

Colossal Cultural Family Event
Museums are not always the stuffy places we think they are but often they will have exhibits that are family friendly and sometimes even specific to children. Museums also encompass the scope of venues including natural history (I call these bone museums and are great favorites for kids) and science museums. I even attended a Garbage Museum not long ago in Milford Connecticut devoted to the art of recycling. It was all designed to show our youth the path of goods that get recycled and those that don't. It was fascinating and well done and would make a great family outing.

I remember my Mother dragging us (once in a while kicking and screaming) to museums as children, but the lessons sank in and I now go as often as I can and have enjoyed a much broader range of art knowledge because of those trips. It likely influenced even my career decision. Exposing children to art early on can have a profound impact on them, but best of all enjoying art as a family can be a very enlightening experience and provide an opportunity to share a diversity of viewpoints and interpretations of what is viewed.

Celebrate your family with art and culture.

Six Flags Family Fun Day
Now it doesn't have to be Six Flags but any amusement park including those that offer white water fun and rock climbing experiences. The key is to allow everyone a chance to enjoy what they like and no one is forced to participate but can watch and wait patiently or find their own kind of fun.

It often happens that half the family decides to spend their time in line on the roller coasters and gravity defying attractions, while other family members prefer to indulge in face painting, hair braiding, and winning stuffed toys at the toss it booths scattered throughout. It isn't important that everyone ride the monster coaster but instead that the day starts together, is connected for hair raising tails of terror and sharing of prizes won, and that everyone heads home happy and tired.

Celebrate your family with an amusement park getaway!

Family Aquarium Adventure Day
Many major cities now have significant aquariums and often sea water parks when located on the coast. If there isn't one where you live, take a look at what nearby (driving distance) cities offer this and investigate a day trip. These are like ocean zoos and can be great places to learn about the creatures of the deep as well as share time as a family.

Aquariums often include IMAX movies featuring rescue of sunken treasures, or stories of underwater predators (movies generally need action and derring do.) In addition they'll have daily underwater shows with divers portraying mermaids or just interacting with the sea life. This can also be an effective way to encourage swimming, and the opportunity to snorkel and scuba.

Celebrate your family with an aquarium adventure day.

Family to Family, A Legacy of Giving
While many of us are familiar with the idea of adopting a child in need, there are also organizations that encourage adoption of a family in need. This may be either overseas or in our own backyard. With such disaster displacement as Hurricane Katrina, families were taken in by other families and helped back on their feet.

Now, I am not suggesting you necessarily adopt a family into your home, but adopting a family by way of sponsoring them is a great way to start a legacy of giving. So often it is something as little as $30 a month to support a child and so a family might be $100 a month whereas in our lives that may be the price of a new pair of shoes or a dinner out.

This is a chance for everyone in the family to participate in the giving and to get to know a family less fortunate. The added benefit is it tends to keep us more grounded and aware of our blessings, rather than taking for granted what too few have. Organizations to facilitate this can be found online and through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Ruby Slipper Project, Hannah Home and more.

Celebrate your family by sharing the gift of giving.

Celebrity Gossip - The Cost of Fame

Celebrities live a charmed life, or so we think. We read about their luxurious lifestyles in the celebrity gossip magazines. We look at their attractive partners, their sparkling jewelry and their posh houses. Many celeb gossip readers fancy living such a life in the lap of luxury. But do we think how they are missing out on the little things in life that make live livable? I mean, no celebrity can go out and hang around with friends when he becomes the darling of entertainment news columns. His private life practically ends there. He's then just a normal person trying to trick the paparazzi and protect whatever he can of his privacy.

There are two questions here. Do the celebrities really want the celebrity gossip sites to talk about every little aspect of their life? The answer is a yes and a no. They want the celeb gossip sites and other publications to talk about them because that gives them publicity and visibility. Being splashed all over tabloids and entertainment news portals have a strong impression on the celebrity's fan following. When the tabloids and magazines talk about them at length, the celebrity knows that he is interesting enough and popular enough to get people talking about him. When they see the paparazzi on their tails, they know they have achieved something important. It's like a yardstick to measure their success.

The answer is a no when we talk about celebrity gossip sites probing deep into their private lives. Celeb gossip sites beep date alerts even when a male celebrity is just hanging around with a celebrity of the opposite sex. The constant scrutiny and a life under the microscope of the paparazzi- that's what celebrities get as a byproduct of fame. They can't go shopping with their family, they can't sneak out with their partner for a quiet dinner, they can't even go to town partying! It's like whatever they may do, the entertainment portals and tabloids will write about them. Exaggeration is an essential enemy here! There are very few publications which actually authenticate a news story about a celebrity before going viral with it.

The second question is: do the celebrity gossip sites help the celebrity? This answer is an emphatic yes! Celebrities use the celeb gossip sites to promote their movies and music. They court journalists who write for these entertainment portals to get favorable movie reviews and music reviews. They like to answer tons of inane questions about their life and lifestyle to please the yellow journalists. They deliberately plant the paparazzi at their favorite haunts so they can be clicked. They know they can't stop the news stories to trickle out, so they make sure that they use these sites and portals as vehicles and media to further their cause.

So the next time you find a celebrity lambasting a celebrity gossip site or threatening to sue an entertainment portal, be sure that he will do a double flip when it comes to using these celeb gossip site! It's all a case of mutual understanding and existence. And as long as no one is seriously complaining, their honeymoon can go on a extended period!

The Celebrity Eclipse

I am like a lot of people in the world; I wonder what it would be like to be a celebrity and live the life of waking up to a Mimosa and pancakes served to me at my home swimming pool. I dream about looking at the waterfall in the morning at the pool and wondering about the poor souls that don't have what I have. It makes me feel a little bit guilty to have so much money for things I like to do, and the material possessions I have. It's enough to make the common layman very jealous I suppose, but I have what I have because I work hard and act according to how my fans expect me to act, and when I don't I get put up in news stands all over the world. Now that in itself is reason enough to get paid the enormous amount of money I make as a celebrity.

Imagine every moment of each day being scrutinized for who I am and who I sleep with. If I am married, my fans want to know what kind of dress my wife may have on at the academy awards and her shoes. My god, do you have these types of questions put to you each and every day. I sip some more of my champagne and orange juice as I do every day that I am home and that is not often. I travel to do promotions and usually for a film even if I have a small part in the film. I travel well over six months out of the year and live in lavish hotel rooms. They are suites and the best in the world, yet it is not home. You know what its like to be away from home, it really does not matter where you are at, and you still miss your own bed and the comfort of your cat and dog.

Yes, being a celebrity is not what I had intended on becoming. It is a following when you hit it big in a film or music recording that this happens to you and it changes you for the better or worse. It depends on if you can handle this. Most young kids in their twenties start using designer drugs and drive Lamborgini's and spend their money foolishly, yet they are able to like I am. You can run out, it just takes a celebrity longer. I hold dear to my money and close to my wife so I don't end up in a tabloid somewhere in East Germany or somewhere like that. You have to really watch what you're doing and saying, one slip could cost you your entire career. Oh well, it's getting about noon now and time to get packed and slip onto the jet and go to New York for a publicity stunt, and then to Saudi Arabia to open a new hotel in Dubai. Life is on track like normal.

I suddenly awake and here I am at home with this wild dream of being a celebrity and now not sounding so great. Wow, I am happy just being whom I am, and that's just a photographer that chases celebrities. I have it made no one wants to be my friend, and I am a loner. I guess I should go easy on these celebrities, but they put themselves in my hands. I have to make a living.

Lifestyle Design - Celebrate Your Creative Spirit - Part II

We all have a creative spirit whether it manifests itself in a talent for home improvement, sewing, craft projects or perhaps computer programming and writing music. Too often we suppress this side as a part of ourselves we will indulge when there is more time. There won't ever be more time and we need to develop and nurture our creative spirit at all times. This will help us to be better balanced and rounded individuals and allows us to share gifts with others on another level.

Here are even more opportunities to celebrate your creative spirit!

Garden Magic
I know you are thinking you have a black thumb, well get over it. I thought I did to but just until I really started to dabble in my garden and realized that if something didn't make it, it might not have anything to do with my thumb, but instead the neighbor's dog, too much sun, or just a finicky plant disposition. Sharing plants and planting tips is a wonderful way to indulge your creative spirit.

Pick a Saturday and plan to spend the time in your garden and a friend's sharing gardening tips and digging in the dirt. Be sure to take a pot or two to say thanks for the help and these can go in the garden too. (While I love indoor live plants, my pets love them a bit too much too!) I tend to like an organized chaos of blooms with layering of color and species, others are much more orderly and formal in their choices. There is no right or wrong just what blooms and what needs extra care.

Grow your creative spirit with travels in the garden.

Photo Memories
One of the best gifts I ever got was from a friend that had spent Thanksgiving at my home with another friend. She had taken photos and put them in just a small album. They chronicled my oven catching fire with marshmallows from the sweet potatoes (you do know this tradition, don't you?) then the arrival of the fire department much to my embarrassment. I offered the brigade a bottle of champagne for their trouble but they politely declined. This same friend then proceeded to land the no longer flaming sweet potatoes on her blouse during dinner! It was a riot and the picture album stayed on my desk for over a year, a happy reminder of a wonderful holiday with friends.

The power of photos is often underrated and while until digitals appeared I had the unique knack of cutting off people's heads and being perpetually out of focus (thank goodness for digital do-overs), I now take photos everywhere and share them widely. It is a way to capture the present for the future. Celebrate your creative spirit with digital memory making, keep it simple.

Paint a Plate
Sometimes we can take a lesson from the craft projects kids bring home. I often see painted plates in client's homes and I am familiar with the trend of the last few years to go to a do-it-yourself pottery source where you can paint your own plates and have them fired for use at home. This is an easy creative outlet and fun to wrangle friends or family into joining you.

You can either make the plates for decorative purposes or for everyday. You could even make one as a gift and have everyone sign it with a quote or quip. Personal makes a difference in a world where we can buy everything.

Sign a Pillow
I used this idea when I was back in grade school and realize I am going to resurrect it for my next bash. A large canvas style pillow and a package of colorful sharpie markers can take the place of a guest book and then be tossed into your décor for a memory making accent. Each person that comes in signs the pillow with a comment about the event, and it becomes a personal reminder of a great time.

If you really want to carry this a step further, have everyone sign a flat piece of fabric and then when you have collected enough of these from a few years of celebrations they can be put together to form either a wall tapestry of memories or a floor cloth (sealed with polyurethane). Tap into your creative spirit for preserving moments of celebration.

Jewelry Making
There is such a wealth of bead making places available now, sometimes at a craft show but even at the mall. This is another fun way to realize your creative spirit with handmade baubles and bangles. Whether you make something for yourself or family or friends, it is personal and unique.

This won't appeal to all. I'd just be interesting in picking the beads out and then moving on and letting someone else do the assembling, but then rumor has it I have ADD! There is still creativity involved and I have friends that would defer on the bead selection and delightedly sit patiently and string them all. (It is great when opposites attract!)

Celebrate your creative spirit with the making of bright and shiny objects.

Home Improvement
You may be one of those TV wonders that keeps up with all the DIY shows and can actually DIY a project! I admire you and applaud you, I am not. This is a creative gift and can save you a lot of money in labor costs, and be a rewarding celebration of your own creative spirit.

Whether you want to tackle a dog house complete with lighting and air conditioning (yes, a friend just did this!), or build a deck off the back of the house or maybe you'll try something on a slightly smaller scale and complete a simple bird house on a stake, have fun with it, get the kids involved if you have any and be open to help from friends and family.

It is not about doing it yourself but in sharing your creative spirit with others in a generous manner that really makes the difference.

Is It Good To Be A Celebrity?

When you think about the word "celebrity", you think about fame. When you think about the word "celebrity", you think about wealth. When you think of the word "celebrity", you think of picking up. So do you really think celebrity is such a great thing? All of us sometimes think that. We want to be famous and well-known all around the world, to be rich and never worry about money. But that's life which is never easy to everyone. There are always something go along with celebrity such things as the lack of privacy, the loneliness and the exhaustion and some other thing like that. So is it really good to be a celebrity?

There is a nice number of advantages of being a celebrity:

The greatest advantage of being famous is that celebrities are usually very rich so they have easier life than other people. They live in beautiful houses which have housekeepers, securities, cooks and other servants. They don't have to worry about paying bills, can affort the best clothes and drive a luxury car. What is more, they spend their holidays in expensive resorts, get the best hotel rooms and the best service. Some words like "cheap", "sales", "too expensive" never appear in a celebrity's dictionary. For example, the slogan "Save money during these difficult economy times" is almost not valuable for Victoria Beckham. She told the media: "Buying a lot of stuff is the way to renew my lifestyle". No comment!!!

Secondly, when you are famous, your name is known by everyone. Then, you are invited to the best parties and meet other celebrities. Your fans send you gifts and letters to tell you how much they love you. Furthermore, celebrities can have a brand product without paying money because some designer will send it to them for advertising or promotion. A famous person receive first-class service wherever they go, such as they don't need to line up when they go to watch movies or see a concert. It's really amazing for ordinary people.

And last but not least, also very interesting, celebrities can easily pickup other celebrities or other person, especially one night stand. I think Paris Hilton can totally agree with me on that one!

However, everything in the world has two sides. Being famous has as disadvantages as advantages.

The biggest problem for famous people is the media which can either make them or break them. They definitely can let you down. Just ask Birtney Spears. Celebrities seldom have privacy and often have to go out in public wearing disguise so that they will not be recognized. They are hounded by the paparazzi who try to photograph them all the time. They also have to notice their appearance and be gentle and polite everywhere and anytime. And if they do something wrong, everybody get to know it immediately. Often the magazine and newspaper write gossip and don't tell true about famous person, what can be very unfortunately for them.

The next thing is stress. The more they get and succeed the more they are expected by their fans to achieve. This is a huge obsession for them. Therefore, it is very easy to see that celebrities who can not solve their problem often abuse alcohol or drugs. In other words, the fame can destroy a man very easily. We just think about Michael Jackson or Diego Maradona to gain experience.

Celebrities also never be sure if their friends and fans like them for who they are or for their money. Celebrities find it hard to trust someone as a real friend. Although they are rich, they still feel lonely sometimes. Money doesn't bring happiness.

In conclusion, celebrity may be nice but not an easy thing to live with. You may have a lot of money but you still feel so lonely and not safe. Your name is known by everyone but stress lets you down. You have everything which ordinary people don't have but you can't do everything which they can do because of the media, especially the paparazzi. So, is it good to be a celebrity? Well, I seem it depends on the person. There are some people who are famous and lead normal, calm life without any serious problems. For me, it is the secret of the happiness.

Celebrity Celibacy

From our vantage point from afar, the celebrity lifestyle seems to be bursting at the seams with glitz, glamour and high profile relationships. But for many years, there have been those in the public eye that have chosen to abstain from having sex before they were married, or in some cases have chosen to be celibate for life. Read about some of the world's celibate celebrities who are unlikely ever to need STD testing.

Sir Isaac Newton
Following his influential discoveries regarding gravity, Sir Isaac Newton undoubtedly earned the 17th Century equivalent of a celebrity status. However, he did not choose a particularly glittering way of life, preferring to focus all his energies on his research. It is said that Newton chose to remain a virgin throughout his life so that he would not get distracted from his work. Had STD testing been around in his day, he would not have been a suitable candidate.

Sir Cliff Richard
English singer and songwriter Sir Cliff Richard started out his career as a rock star. However, his music softened as did his lifestyle, when he converted to strict Christianity. The second of the Sirs in this article who is unlikely to need STD testing, Richard has since openly declared his Christian beliefs and his celibacy to be of great importance to him.

Lisa Kudrow
This star is best known for her role in hit sitcom 'Friends', in which she played popular character Phoebe. The character of Phoebe, who remains unmarried until the final season of the comedy show, regularly tells stories of the various dates she has been on and makes frequent allusions to her sexual escapades.

Age Is Just a Number With the Right Lifestyle

We generally attach significance to and celebrate the ages that society considers to be key milestones in our lives. In Western culture we think in terms of decades so the big celebrations for adults would be on the 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th birthday and each decade thereafter. In East Asia where life cycle is linked to the 12 Zodiac signs, the important celebrations would be on each completion of the Zodiac cycle. Thus the 72nd birthday, representing six complete cycles of life, is deemed to be a more significant milestone than the 70th.

With the concept of age as a milestone we then define "retirement age" and "old age" based on the number of years we have lived. This way of thinking is no longer relevant today. People are not only living longer but also living those additional years actively and in good health. And they have new interests and challenging careers that enrich their lives. I would like to illustrate this with the story of two women in their mid-70s for whom age is just a number.

Laughing with Mary Maxwell
Mary is a mother of five and a grandmother of 12 and has been married to the same man for 50 years. She is a comedian who has entertained millions of people over the years with her quick wit and dry humor. She has spoken at major national events and her videos on YouTube have generated millions of viewers. Her brand is 'laughing with Mary'. And when she shares her unique insights on ageing and senior families, you surely will be laughing with her. She also answers questions from readers on the one website with humorous and practical advice.

Exercising with Ernestine Shepherd
Ernestine, like Mary, is a mother and grandmother and enjoys a supportive spouse. She is the world's oldest female body builder active in competition as recorded in the Guinness Book Records for 2012. She is also a personal trainer, professional model and motivational speaker. Twenty years ago, when she went out to buy a new swimsuit and was not happy with the way she looked, she decided to do something about it - she turned her life around. In her own words: "I transformed myself from an average middle-age woman with a sedentary lifestyle into the oldest competitive female body builder". She started serious training as a body builder at the age of 71. Her message to all of us is that it is never too late to be fit for life.

Both Mary and Ernestine are great examples of great healthy lifestyle, which is about having a sound body, sound mind, and sound finances plus a continued engagement with life and the world around it.

Re-Defining - Let's Celebrate

Like many families before the current depression began, we would often dine out to celebrate occasions both big and small. If it was someone's birthday, we would go out. If I got a consulting job, we would go out to celebrate. Heck, just our monthly pay days were often reason to celebrate. The bill was almost never less than £40 for dinner for two and a bottle of wine. If we brought the children, then the bill would be between £75 and £100. But like many other families since this whole economic downturn really began in October of last year, eating out is one luxury that has virtually disappeared from our lifestyle.

So this week, when I received a large payment for consulting work that I had done some time ago, my first thought was...let's celebrate. But I immediately realised that the traditional going out to eat was not in keeping with the Frugal Family values (at least not for something as inconsequential as getting paid money I was owed...if we won the Lottery, maybe). Instead I began to plot and scheme for something that could make me and my family feel just as special...and keep with our core values.

Family first. Any mother of a three year-old will tell you that dining out is a challenge. This option actually proved much more pleasurable because we were not worrying about shovelling our food into our mouths before Emily reached her tolerance level...or taking turns eating while the other entertained her. She played wonderfully in the comfort and familiarity of her own home while I prepared the meal...rather than trying in vain to keep her occupied with crayons and a colouring page. And anything she dropped on the floor was no big deal. If she was a little loud, she only entertained us with her conversation...not a restaurant full of strangers. Overall...for family first this experience was five stars.

Saving money. Like I said, the bare minimum we would have left the restaurant for was £40 for just me and hubby. This meal cost us £20 and fed the whole family...£5/person.

Environmentally friendly. This first thing that comes to mind on this count was the water glasses. There has been a furore for some time about bottled water served by hotels and restaurants. I served filtered tape water.

Healthy. It was a celebration so the meal was not the healthiest...steak, but by cooking it at home I know exactly how much salt and sugar were added to the meal rather than trying to read some pretty little symbols off a menu...assuming the restaurant even bothers to highlight healthy options.

In the end, I asked my husband and eighteen year old son to rate the experience from one to five. One would be fast food...and five being Gordon Ramsey or Wolfgang Puck. Both gave the evening a four, but my husband's ranking changed to five when he learned I had done it all on a fiver.

So would you like to hear about this celebration meal? It was rather American actually...steak and baked potatoes. A great deal of effort in making it seem more celebratory went into the presentation. I set the tables, including flowers and candles. Of course, in keeping with family first...Emily's place consisted of her Mr Men plates, bowls and cups; something Gordon and Wolfgang would not have thought to include.

The first course was a simple Greek style salad. It took about ten minutes to cut the vegetables and mix. I did this earlier in the day so that the flavours of the cheese, oil and vinegar would set. Here is the basic recipe:

Combine cut or torn Romaine lettuce, a little will do for this one, with sliced sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and onion. Then sprinkle with Feta cheese. The dressing is simple and fairly healthy: olive oil and Balsamic vinegarette. My family don't like them, but olives are wonderful additions to this simple and colourful feast. Remembering that the more colour of the rainbow you include the healthier it is; this dish had purple onion; green lettuce, peppers and cucumbers, yellow and red peppers. Only blue and orange were missing...and I made up for the blue with dessert.

The main course was steak, fresh from our butcher, and baked potatoes (called jacket potatoes here in the UK) with sautéed mushrooms and onions. I once heard someone say...a good steak requires no seasoning and I have come to believe that. So for these I only salted, very lightly. I then sealed in the juices by browning them on a high heat. The pan should be so hot that you hear the steaks sizzle when they heat it. One way of telling if the pan is ready is to hold your hand about an inch above it; you should not be able to tolerate the heat for long. Another way is to place a single drop of water in the centre of the pan; it should dance round and quickly disappear. Brown the steaks on both sides and then places in a baking dish to finish off in the oven or grill. I used lower heat to keep the meat juicy and tender. How long you cook will depend upon your taste in meat. A truly rare enthusiast may like their steak straight from the pan. My family all prefer well done...so it took almost half an hour on the medium-low setting (5 or 200 in the UK and approximately 250 to 300 in the US).

I had already put my potatoes in to cook about half an hour earlier because they were huge and I knew they would take much longer to bake. The topping was easy...about ten minutes to prepare and cook. I actually waited until moments before I expected my husband home to do this one. I simply tossed a cup of sliced mushrooms and half of a large onion into the same skillet I had used to brown my steaks...without washing it. The mushrooms and onions then absorbed some of the flavour of the meat as well. I topped the steak and potato with this mixture; although my son preferred the traditional cheese and sour cream for his jacket potato.

Finally, dessert. I kept this one simple actually. There was a bit of my son's chocolate birthday cake left over. I sprinkled this and bits of chocolate bar on a dessert dish and microwaved for 30 seconds. Then I topped with chocolate ice cream and fresh blueberries and strawberries. In complete honesty, it looked better than it tasted. But then again that happens in the best of restaurants too; even Gordon and Wolfgang have flops.

So this weekend if you are in the mood to celebrate, I encourage you to get creative and see how special an evening you make for your family on how little money.

Car Dealers - What Are the Celebrities Driving?

Keeping up with celebrities has fast become part of our culture. Just a glance at the magazine aisles in the supermarkets is proof of our obsession with the rich and famous. Their lifestyle fascinates us, from their weight to their hair colour and their homes to the cars they drive. Of course, trying to keep up with celebrities can only successfully be achieved by very wealthy fans but if you are browsing the car dealers for a new car, taking ideas from celebrities can be a good place to start.

They are constantly in the public eye, and being seen in a popular and 'cool' car is going to be paramount to keep a reputation, or even build one. Unfortunately some cars owned by admired celebrities are completely out of the question for the average fan (Chris Brown's Bugatti Veyron for example!) but some celebrities do own cars that your local car dealer may have in the showroom. Keeping up with the rich and famous doesn't have to be an unreachable goal.

British film actor Jude Law owns the Audi A8, which is a stylish and spacious car with plenty of different specifications to choose from. The basic version (2.8 litre V6) has all the power that you'd really need and although it is expensive the return for a second hand A8 is decent if you can find the right car dealer.

If music is more your cup of tea, then singer Katy Perry is currently sporting the slightly smaller Audi A5. It may be smaller than the A8, but it is certainly cheaper which makes it more achievable in today's financial climate. For singles and couples, it's a fashionable and up to date buy.

If a swish and sporty vehicle isn't really your thing, then model Heidi Klum could be a good reference. She owns (among other cars) the new style VW Beetle Cabriolet. It's a fun and cute drive, which is perfect for cities and the soft top is ideal for showing off the new celebrity inspired hair-do. It's also relatively cheap, so check out your local car dealers for available versions. The celebrity lifestyle is not as unreachable as you think!

Celebrity Smile Teeth Whitener - How to Get the Celebrity White Teeth at More Affordable Prices

Most people want to have a beautiful white smile just like those celebrities on TV, but it is really hard to afford real dentist treatments that can cost up to thousand of dollars. The good news is there are many celebrity smile teeth whiteners on the market which are better alternatives. These products can actually help you get the same dentist treatments at a much lower price.

One of the most common celebrity smile teeth whiteners is the whitening strips. These are designed to make your job easier and save lots of time. You can simply place the strips on your teeth for only 10 to 15 minutes a day to get the results. These whitening strips will remove the stains and keep your teeth shinny and bright white. Comparing to professional dentist office treatments, celebrity smile whitening strips are very effective and cost efficient as well.

Another great home celebrity smile teeth whitener is the whitening gel or mouth tray. You can easily get these at the local beauty salon or online at better discount prices. Comparing to the custom mouth trays at the dentist clinics, these products are much more affordable and still provide the great results. You can expect to have teeth 3 to 5 shades whiter in matter of days and 5 to 8 shades brighter in just couple weeks. These mouth trays are meant to be place on your teeth with whitening gel inside to maximize the potential.

You can also use other common whitening solution such as hydrogen peroxide or baking soda, which can be bought at the local drugstores or pharmacy. These are not the best teeth whiteners but if you keep using them for a longer time, you will get your teeth whiter eventually. However, solution like baking soda is pretty abrasive and not safe to be used excessively. Hydrogen peroxide on the other hand, can be dangerous for your health so I would only use it once in a while.

It is important to find the best teeth whiteners on the market, but to maximize your whitening potential, you should change your diet and lifestyle. A recent study has shown that white wine can damage your teeth more than red wine and other alcoholic beverages. You can easily weaken your tooth by drinking too much white wine. Also, smoking cigarettes and drinking excessive coffee and tea can also make your teeth yellow really fast.
